Where history and hospitality meet

GamlaVærket is more than a hotel – it’s a guesthouse for all senses. The distinctive building in the heart of Sandnes holds over 240 years of history. It once housed Norway’s first brick factory, later a pottery workshop, and today, a hotel where the walls tell stories and the atmosphere is tangible.

From the kitchen drifts the aroma of freshly baked bread, slow-cooked meats, butter and spices – a natural part of the full sensory experience the hotel offers.

Unique rooms with character

GamlaVærket offers 55 hotel rooms – all individually decorated with original architectural features and modern comforts. Their newest 17 rooms opened in 2024, located in the former butcher’s building from the 1950s. Here, industrial character meets thoughtful design and contemporary comfort.

Flavours rooted in the region

The hotel restaurant serves classic dishes with a modern twist, made from scratch using ingredients from local producers. The menu follows the seasons, with house favourites such as fish soup, plukkfisk, homemade bread and butter, and varied à la carte and three-course options.

After dinner, relax at VinVærket – the hotel bar – with a glass of wine, something local on tap, or a light bite in a casual setting.

Activities and experiences – tailored for your group

GamlaVærket offers a range of activities for corporate groups, social events, and private occasions – whether you're after something educational, social, or high-energy:

• Wine or beer tastings with selected producers and sommeliers
• RIB safari in the Ryfylke fjords – a thrilling ride through spectacular nature
• Casino night with games, atmosphere and entertainment
• Guided historical walk through downtown Sandnes

The hotel also offers flexible meeting and event spaces – from small gatherings to larger occasions – including two new meeting rooms in the renovated butcher’s building.

All activities are adapted to your group’s size, time and budget. We handle everything from planning to execution.
