Experience the Edge of Norway as recommended by the MICHELIN Guide. On the south-west coast of Norway, you will find a city that combines historical charm with modern creativity and a culinary scene that is gaining international recognition.

The MICHELIN Guide describes the Stavanger region as a destination where gastronomy, design and nature come together in perfect balance. Here's how you can spend 48 hours at the Edge of Norway – just like the MICHELIN Guide did.

Day 1 – Art, culture and taste

Morning

  • Breakfast at Ostehuset Storhaug Øst. Ostehuset is a local icon where you can start your day surrounded by the aroma of fresh bread and other baked goods.
  • Head to Valbergtårnet for views of the city and the sea.
  • Enjoy the tranquillity of Byparken and visit Stavanger Cathedral, Norway's oldest, where Gothic lines meet the water mirror in Breiavatnet.

Morning and lunch

  • Add some colour to your day by visiting Fargegaten, Stavanger's most photographed street, where facades and street art tell the city's modern history.
  • Explore Stavanger's status as a street art capital, where the walls are the city's gallery, thanks to the NuArt Street Art Festival.
  • Visit unique places such as Kant®, stop by Helmer's Coffee and Tea, or Chili Chocolate for handmade chocolate, perhaps with a hint of chilli, a small but tasty stop between experiences.
  • Then head to Stavanger's international food street, Pedersgata! Lunch at Bellies, a MICHELIN Guide-recommended restaurant known for its plant-based menu and creative flavours.

Afternoon

  • In the eastern part of town, stop by Odd Standard's micro shop for a small souvenir, and relax in Svankevigå, a maritime area with modern architecture and floating saunas. Odd Standard is a design studio that collaborates with several of Norway's MICHELIN restaurants.
  • Continue to Old Stavanger, with its 170 white wooden houses and timeless atmosphere.

Evening

  • Aperitif and a taste of the Japanese cuisine at the MICHELIN-starred restaurant Sabi Omakase, prepared with local seafood
  • Dinner at K2 – a MICHELIN star worth travelling for. Here, local ingredients are given new life in minimalist, elegant surroundings.
